Incorrect flagging personal dictionary word as misspelled

What got flagged?
The word "Aeon" was flagged as a spelling mistake, with Harper trying to urge me to change it to Aron, Avon, and Eon.

Why is this incorrect?
This is incorrect since I had already marked the word into my personal dictionary, and any further attempts to add it to my dictionary does nothing, removing and readding does nothing to address the issue either.

Example of correct usage:
Correct usage should allow the name to be said in dialogue: "Aeon was walking." or just "Aeon."

I had a look and since there's two spellings (three actually but æon isn't in our dictionary).

• aeon we currently have annotated as being the UK and Australian spelling
• eon is not annotated so is usable in any dialect - after a quick bit of research I'm annotating eon as American and Canadian in chore: normalize, noun countability, -obsolete POSes #2202

But that should be separate from your problem where you specifically have the word in your user dictionary. I was sure this had come up before and been fixed... Yes. reported in #1876 and addressed in #1922

(@elijah-potter is it time for a user-dictionary GitHub label? Or re-word the dictionary label to cover all dictionaries instead of specifically the curated dictionary?)

This also gives me an idea for an enhancement where when the spellchecker checks that a word pertains to the currently chosen dialect. We could change it so that when that happens it reports to the user that the word is in the dictionary and show for which dialects.

It could then offer to

• Allow the out-of-dialect spelling
• Add the spelling to the user dictionary do it'll always be accepted?
• Ask the user if they have their preferred dialect.
• Provide a switch to allow the user to change the dialect right there?
• Tell the user they can file a GitHub issue if they feel the spelling should be allowed in their chosen dialect.

I am on the American Dialect, but I went and tested, the issue is present on both Canadian and American dialect, while working perfectly on British and Australian as you said it would.

@grantlemons I wonder if you could have a look at why this bug survived your fixes in #1922

Not sure, but first thing that comes to mind is I don't think that the config supports that style of user dictionary. I thought the config could only accept a path, not an array.

Edit: I just realized that isn't harper-ls, maybe the browser extensions do support that style.

Interesting, I was unable to replicate this in harper-ls.

Edit: I was able to replicate in the browser, so it's probably an issue in how harper-wasm is constructing the merged dictionary.
