slate fork repo?

I see this project relies on a fork of slate at `@gitbook/slate` does this slate fork exist anywhere? I'm curious what the differences are between the original package and the gitbook fork.

I'm interested in using this project with slate, but not sure if I need to use the forked version? or if they are compatible
