Windows Deployment

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
I need to deploy Altair to a group of Windows users within the company and require them to be installed by our software deployment tool

Describe the solution you'd like
Couple of options:

1. Deploy to the Microsoft Store so we can easily deploy using our tool and keep the software automatically up-to-date
2. Add command line install options to the .exe so we can silently install via our tool instead of the store if the store isn't an option
3. Add an install option for .msi for Windows installers

Describe alternatives you've considered
Manually installing, however this will cause issues with security policies in the near future

Wouldn't chocolatey work?

Not had chance to test this yet. The aim is for us to enable Intune as a managed installer and then use App Control for Business policies however i need to test if installing via Chocolately will add the tags to Altair or to Chocolately

Chocolately isn't natively supported as a deployment solution within Intune so the way to deploy software is a bit of a kerfuffle

Okay looks like it might be possible to build an msi as well https://www.electron.build/msi.html

I can investigate that approach. Deploying to the microsoft store tends to be heavy handed so is not something I have considered doing.

Looks like thhat also requires code signing. I guess this will take a bit longer than I thought.

If you have an Azure account, I've started looking into using Trusted Signing for when it comes to my region. The current Azure Regions to use it are:

• West Central US
• West US
• West US 2
• West US 3
• North Europe
• West Europe
