Breaking changes from 3.3.5 to 4.0.x?

While looking for the updates to tar-fs (covered in #802) I noticed I was still using 3.3.5 so was going to update to 4.0.x but I can't find any indication about what changed to trigger the major version bump.

Major version changes normally indicate breaking changes, but a really quick review of the commits in the delta between 4.0.0 and 3.3.5 doesn't show anything that would break things.

Can you add a short note to the GitHub release comment to make it clear?
