Porting the formulae to Homebrew-core

Is there any reason why the formulae are not ported to homebrew-core? I am in the process of writing a formula for webkit-gtk as I need it for another app and I plan to upload it to upload there. If anyone is familiar with the formulae here and would like to help, please advise me on what tests and configurations are needed.
