Support for full open-source Aegis 2FA companion app on Wear OS 5+ #1735

Hi team,

It’s been six years since the original proposal (#176), and Wear OS has evolved significantly.
I’d like to suggest revisiting the idea of creating an Aegis companion app for Wear OS, fully open source and built with Material 3 design principles.

💡 Proposal

Develop a Wear OS app (compatible with Wear OS 5.0 and above, including Wear OS 6.0) that:

  • Displays 2FA tokens directly on the watch.
  • Syncs tokens securely from the Aegis app installed on the paired phone.
  • Works completely offline and without Google Play Services dependencies. com.google.android.gms

⚙️ Key points

  • 100% open source, just like the main Aegis app.
  • Uses modern Wear OS APIs for UI (Jetpack Compose for Wear OS).
  • Focus on privacy, minimal permissions, and secure local sync (possibly via the Android Companion Device Manager or custom pairing logic).

This would make Aegis an even more complete solution for users who prefer privacy-first authentication across both phone and smartwatch.
