Support highlighting ranges of lines using shift-click

Currently to highlight line ranges you can hold your mouse down and drag it across all the line numbers, but this isn't a very typical pattern, so a lot of users won't know this exists (and the UI doesn't really suggest it does). It would be nice to support shift-clicking to highlight/unhighlight ranges in addition to the current functionality.
