The first proof verification system that works 100% offline with zero external dependencies
Quick Start · Why ProofCore? · Features · Live Demo · Documentation
LLMs cannot verify mathematical proofs reliably.
As shown in Frieder & Hart (2025): "No LLM Solved Yu Tsumura's 554th Problem"
Despite high benchmark scores, all major LLMs fail on rigorous mathematical reasoning:
- ❌ GPT-4o: Correct syntax, wrong logic
- ❌ Claude 3.5: High confidence, low accuracy
- ❌ Gemini 2.0: Plausible but incorrect reasoning
- ❌ LLaMA 3.1: Hallucinated "proofs"
Root Cause: LLMs excel at pattern matching, not rigorous mathematical reasoning.
ProofCore uses hybrid verification combining rigorous symbolic math with semantic understanding:
ProofCore Verification Pipeline

FINAL VERIFICATION RESULT
| Aspect | ProofCore | LLMs |
|---|---|---|
| Approach | Symbolic + Semantic hybrid | Pattern matching only |
| Operation | 100% offline | API-dependent |
| Speed | <300ms (p95) | 2-5s per proof |
| Cost | $0 (after install) | $0.01-0.10 per proof |
| Reproducibility | ✅ Offline CI gates | ❌ API-dependent |
| Yu Tsumura 554 | ✅ Verified correctly | ❌ All fail |
| Privacy | ✅ Local only | ❌ Data transmitted |

npm install
# Run development server (works completely offline)
npm run dev
# Open http://localhost:5173- ProofCore ships with
VITE_OFFLINE_MODE=true, so verification works entirely in-browser without starting the FastAPI backend. - Run
npm run setup:pyodidewhen you need offline Pyodide support; it downloads assets declared inpyodide-manifest.json. - Run
npm run verify:offline-assetsto confirm the downloaded files match the manifest before going air-gapped. - Remote LLM providers stay disabled unless you set
ENABLE_LLM_PROVIDERS=true(backend) and provide API keys. Leave them unset for the OSS/offline profile. - If you do enable networking, also set
VITE_ALLOW_NETWORK=true(frontend) so guarded fetches can reach the backend.
- Review
pyodide-manifest.jsonand list the assets you plan to ship (include hashes or SRI strings when possible). - Run
npm run setup:pyodideto download the files locally underpublic/pyodide/. - Run
npm run verify:offline-assetsto confirm the downloaded files match the manifest.
proofcore/research_benchmark/hosts ProofCore's step-level benchmarking utilities (loader, parser, cascade validator, and metrics).- Evaluate a dataset via
python -m proofcore.research_benchmark.rbm_cli --dataset proofcore/research_benchmark/data_examples/sample_set.json. - Hooks and metrics mirror the CA proof pipeline and will expand to cover IMO-Bench style evaluations (AnswerBench / ProofBench / GradingBench).
- Python smoke tests under
backend/tests_rbm/keep the RBM stack regression-safe.
