How to change modle to Gemini 2.0 flash in gemini CLI

model name for Gemini 2.0 flash ?,

if i change the model to gemini-2.5-flash it works.

this is in .gemeni/settings.json directory.

but if change the model name to gemini-2.0-flash it shows :

Could you specify what authentication method you are using? Please note the model's supported regions in care you're using Vertex AI here.

gemeni api, is auth methode i am using, gemeni sdk, why this seems like a bot reply :\

As of Nov 5, 2025 gemini-cli now supports /model command. That should make things easier.
