High ram usage when caching images

I come from filebrowser, the original project, and it has the same problem. filebrowser/filebrowser#2400

The problem is basically that when I access an image directory and view one of the images, the amount of RAM increases enormously, I think because all the images are stored in the RAM as cache. Playing videos is no problem, but with images my container constantly restarts.

Is there an option to disable this cache or improve/correct this behavior?

EXTRA: I noticed that when I access a directory with several PDF files, the same thing happens: RAM usage increases extremely, but this is only happens on filebrowser quantum.

Viewing a single image is not stored in RAM or cached in any way. However, thumbnails are cached -- on disk, not RAM.

So I would ask, why you think RAM is increasing and do you have any analysis that supports it?

Also:

• What type of image are you viewing?
• What size is it?

FWIW this does not happen for me and nobody else that I know of has mentioned this an in issue.

and btw "ram cache" is not possible on Quantum, a cache directory is always used instead of RAM (unlike the original and issue link you posted)
