blu ray dvds

I'm seeing if i can play a blu ray dvd with an external blu ray computer player on the app. unless if i'm doing something wrong, i can only play it using vlc, but since the coding is relativity the same, i was wondering if it can show up on this app as well.

Unfortunately this is not possible at the moment. Bluray decoding is technically a separate component, outside of the LibVLC scope. Iirc, the bluray decoder has a decoding key that cannot be shared or packaged. Plus there is a whole separate situation where the UWP application cannot read from disk devices. This is as far as I know a UWP limitation.

Not true, there is a Optical device capability. This issue comment even includes an example, too bad I don’t have a device with an optical drive to test it out.

BTW I do know and used the inbox Media Player to play music CDs, I'll try DVD-Video and report later.

@United600 the challenge is getting a data stream from a device object. So far I don't think it's possible. I always thought the inbox media player had special permission or Win32 component to handle CD/DVD

On Xbox, audio CDs automatically open in Media Player, while Blu-rays and DVDs launch the Blu-ray Player.

Yeah I agree, even if the limitations no longer exist it will be a major technical challenge (CDs might be easier but still difficult).
