Search across the site

It's becoming more tedious to find specific pages. e.g. network pages like https://globalping.io/networks/g-core-labs I basically have to guess the URL to find. And we plan to add more pages too in the future.

As we keep adding more and more specialized pages we should add a search box that can search across the full site. It should take into account:

• URLs
• Page titles
• Page descriptions ?
• Other?

To avoid taking too much space it can be a search icon by default that expands on click.

Need to decide on the actual tech. Can it be done natively as part of the codebase or we need an external indexer and API?

Not against search, but the main reason those pages are not discoverable is that, currently, they only make sense for driving users to the site from other search engines. If you arrive at the main page as a user, the pages have no higher value than the global network page. If we later have, e.g., network latency rankings or some other useful data to put on those pages, they'll naturally become linked.

Thats just a question of ranking the pages in the search. But we still need it, we plan to keep adding pages. What would be the best way to do it?

No, the question is whether it's actually useful once the pages are linked; we don't really have that much content. I also don't see how people would even know what to search for. I'd revisit this after #46, #9, and maybe also the addition of TS data.
