Instructions in README don't work

Describe the bug
When the instructions in the README are followed, the MCP Inspector reports The connected server does not support any MCP capabilities

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

1. Follow instructions 1, 2, and 4 to create and test a demo MCP server

Expected behavior
Capabilities will exist

Logs
If applicable, add logs to help explain your problem.
