App is refusing text input or is blank

I successfully built and ran the app (as in it started up with my identity verified), but:

• the npm start version refuses to take text input
• while npm run package builds successfully, opening it shows a blank window

npm start
(I'm seeing a DNS error -- could that play a part?)

How can I start debugging this?

Mac OS X 10.10.4

can you try
npm run rebuild-leveldb then npm start?

I seem to have to do this every time I clone.

I tried it, with the same result as before. Despite focusing on the text field, typed input still appears in the terminal.

i fixed some bug, it should work better now :)

I had this too, until I launched the application twice. Then it was gone.
