How do I use SSimDownscaler?

Since I wanted to try to improve the overall quality on my laptop, I decided to try SSimDownscaler, but I didn't quite understand how to use it. Frankly, looking around a bit, there is only conflicting and very confusing information about it for those who are not too familiar with mpv like me, such as whether or not dscale has the slightest influence if I use shaders. Some say yes and others say no. In summary: since I don't understand anything, can someone tell me clearly what I should put in my mpv.conf to do everything correctly? It's for downscaling from 1080p to 720p, and I watch both anime and live-action content. I imagine many would say I'm worrying too much, but I want to try first to see how much I can improve the quality by setting everything to the best settings.
