Using "Not Done" with a boolean?

Here's what I'm trying to do. In my daily journal I would like to display any tasks from previous daily journal entries that remain open as of the new journal entries date.

But I want to keep them displayed even after they are completed. Here's the query I tried to use, but it throws an error.

tasks
created before 2025-09-26
(not done) or  (done after 2025-09-25)

Tasks query: Could not interpret the following instruction as a Boolean combination:
(not done) or (done after 2025-09-25)

The error message is:
couldn't parse sub-expression 'not done) or (done after 2025-09-25'

The instruction was converted to the following simplified line:
(f1)

Where the sub-expressions in the simplified line are:
'f1': 'not done) or (done after 2025-09-25'
=> ERROR:
do not understand query

Hi, do have a look at that linked page in the error/help message, please.

It will show how to combine queries, including pointing out that OR etc all need to be in capitals.
