Expand inside quotes?

I see the current behaviour is not to expand abbreviations if we are inside quotes.

echo '@my_global_abbr<Space>
# no expansion :(

Is there a way to change this behaviour?

Reason: I just realised today that I could save my thumbs a great deal of smartphone typing fatigue in Termux if I had global abbreviations for awkward-to-type strings like $().

Effectively… but importantly not exactly right. Your example doesn't expand because zsh-abbr doesn't parse the string; '@my_global_abbr<Space> will only expand if there's an abbreviation '@my_global_abbr. And that means it's a case for prefixes! 🎉

That's the stuff. I used a Freestyle Edge for years and years, but moved to a Quefrency (not tented, but hotswappable). Have the makings of a dactyl manuform in a box in somewhere, want to try a Glove80, would be excited about a hotswappable zmk wired Advantage360. You?

I've been using an ErgoDox EZ since like 2018. Just this year I bought some MagSafe phone stands & magnetic ring stickers so I could tent this sucker a good 50+ degrees. I really want a wireless keeb, and I also want something that has an integrated pointing device (ideally a finger-operated trackball). I have a couple nice!nanos in a box somewhere, but I don't actually have a place where I can do soldering, and I don't own (or want to own) a 3D printer etc, so it was always a bit of a pipe dream haha. I started trying to CAD up my own keyboard to my very specific needs, but it was really difficult in traditional CAD. I also bought a nice yellow billiard ball to use as trackball, and even had an experimental trackball mount 3D printed to test the concept. I dunno, maybe one day I'll return to that project.

Splitkb is getting close to releasing wireless versions of their Halcyon keebs, and since they're here in the Netherlands, I'm very likely to try and grab one of those. Bastardkb (also in the Netherlands) also has some really great designs, but wired only unfortunately.

My other current obsession is chair-mounting my keyboard (wireless would help out a lot with that). I'm balking a bit at the cost but I might pick up some magic arm-type camera mounting hardware and clamp it to my chair arms…

Horizontal or vertical chair mounting?

Mounted vertical-ish, as the keyboard currently is on my desk, but without the desk. I think it would let me have them a bit lower, which would be ideal as right now with the verticality they're a bit too tall for maximum comfort.
