Olive's Future: Seeking Community Input on Project Maintenance

Hello everyone,

It appears that the original author hasn't pushed new code in approximately 7 months. During this period, they mentioned plans to continue development on Discord, but the official website has since gone offline. Unfortunately, no public contact information (email or otherwise) is available to reach them directly.

As a student with time to contribute, I'm interested in maintaining a community-driven fork alongside other contributors. Before taking action, I'd like to gather your thoughts:

1. Should we wait longer for the author's response?
2. Is creating a community-maintained fork the right path forward?

To the original author (if you see this):
I sincerely hope you'll resume maintenance or formally authorize a community fork. Your work is deeply valued.

To the community:
Please share your perspectives below!

P.S.:
An error in this discussion: the author mentioned plans to continue development on Patreon, not Discord. I don't have a Discord account. My last check was in June and I remembered it incorrectly.

Hey @Mike-Solar , I'm Not An Expert In Coding; Just An Enthusiast Who Loves To Use FOSS Software(s) And It Feels So Good To See That These Non-Linear Video Editing FOSS Software Are Possible To Be As Good As The Big Competitors In Almost Every Scenario(s)
Firstly, This Is A Recommendation To Continue This Project As A Fork, It Only Going To Benefit The Community And That's What Being Open-Source Means

Why fork it and not just contribute code to it if you have the skills. Isn't that possible?
Sorry I don't have the knowledge and I don't know how all these open source stuff works.

I was hoping for olive to be one of the best FOSS. Not sure why Gnome or any other bigger Player is not helping the Project.
KDE has its video editor but this one could surpass the best video editing programs.

Well, since the website said "Olive eill return", it is the fact that the author didn't push any code in the last 7 month. And you can have a look at the pull requests and issues, the author has not reviewed contributes for a long time. I don't think it is possible to make contribute to this project. It's kind of strange talking where the author could see the conversation. A while back, I saw them reference rebuilding it in the Godot engine, given that it's a foundation that would help them! And honestly, you stop and think sometimes, what if you could build something with a 3D environment, like an Autodesk Flame, in Godot? I came back to see where I could leave encouragement because every time I think about how much I loved the spirit of Olive, I feel compelled to pass it forward.
