I think I can speak for the team when I say we absolutely will not put effort into anything related to wordpress, but as you've already noted, there is an official container which is actively maintained.

To add to that, we provide an nginx container in which you can simply extract the wordpress tarball into the config folder and set the root path in nginx default site conf. That's all.

Also you can pretty much just drop a wordpress install into our Swag or nginx containers and run it from there with a few config tweaks.
