Models To Build
This is a simple "wishlist" of models to build. These are the examples which will drive the development of an API for the bottom-up project. See the Zotero group linked in the sidebar for a more detailed list.
-
[Bloom 2009] "The Impact of Uncertainty Shocks", Econometrica.
- A model with heterogeneous firms.
-
[Bloom-et-al. 2015] "Really Uncertain Business Cycles", R&R
- Bloom 2009 embedded in a full general equilibrium setting
-
[Carroll 2012]: "Solving Microeconomic Dynamic Stochastic Optimization Problems: Lecture Notes." link
-
[Carroll-Slacalek-Tokuoka-White 2014]: "The Distribution of Wealth and the Marginal Propensity to Consume" link
-
[Chatterjee-Corbae-Nakajima-Rios-Rull 2007]: "A Quantitative Theory of Unsecured Consumer Credit with Risk of Default," Econometrica.
-
[Conesa-Krueger-Kitao 2009] "Taxing Capital? Not a Bad Idea after All!" American Economic Review.
- A life cycle model with endogenous labor decisions.
-
[denHaan 1997]: "Solving Dynamic Models with Aggregate Shocks and Heterogeneous Agents," Macroeconomic Dynamics.
-
[Fella 2014]: "A Generalized Endogenous Grid Method for Non-Smooth and Non-Concave Problems," Review of Economics Dynamics.
-
[Krusell-Smith 1997] "Income and Wealth Heterogeneity, Portfolio Choice, and Equilibrium Asset Returns," Macroeconomic Dynamics.
-
[Krusell-Smith 1998]: "Income and Wealth Heterogeneity in the Macroeconomy," Journal of Political Economy, link
-
[Storesletten-Telmer-Yaron 2007]: "Asset Pricing with Idiosyncratic Risk and Overlapping Generations," Review of Economic Dynamics.
-
[Telyukova-2013]: "Household Need for Liquidity and the Credit Card Debt Puzzle"
These models aim to incorporate a handful of classic papers, for example, as covered by most 1st and 2nd year PhD courses. The goal is to incentivize instructors to assign problem sets based on code made available through the website, thus encouraging new researchers to pay the "entry cost" early for using what will hopefully be a standarized toolkit. Eventually this section may include suggested homework problem sets to encourage this.
