Removed testtools.compat._b() and _u() wrapper functions throughout the codebase, replacing them with native Python 3.10+ syntax:
- _b("string") → b"string" for byte literals
- _b("format %s" % var) → ("format %s" % var).encode() for formatted byte strings
- _u("string") → "string" (unicode strings are default in Python 3+)
